Joe Salazar, co-owner of The Actors Company, is a veteran acting coach with over 25 years of experience, and he has loved every minute of it. Joe firmly believes that actors perform their best when they allow themselves to be free, enabling the audience to connect with what is authentic about them—what makes them memorable and unique. One of Joe's passions as a coach is to guide actors in creating material for themselves.

As a playwright, Joe has written three full-length plays and countless one-act plays, scenes, and monologues. He is also an award-winning director and has been involved in the industry for over 40 years.

Holiday Writing Workshop: Create and Perform Your Original Short Play!

Join Joe Salazar's Holiday Writing Workshop for a unique chance to write, rehearse, and perform your own holiday-themed short play! This five-session class is specially designed for actors looking to gain experience writing. We will create original material and bring it to life on stage. Limited to just 10-12 participants, you'll receive dedicated guidance as you develop a piece under ten minutes in length, perfect for showcasing your creativity and enhancing your skills.

  • Meeting dates and times: Dec 2, 4, 9, & 11 from 7-10 pm AND Dec 14th from 1-7:30 pm (7:30 pm performance)

What You’ll Do:

  • Write and workshop a holiday-themed scene or short play (under 10 minutes).

  • Collaborate with peers in a supportive, creative environment.

  • Rehearse your piece with professional guidance.

  • Perform in a final showcase—a festive "Night of Short Plays"!

Who Should Enroll: Actors excited or nervous to explore writing, stretch their creative skills, and perform in a collaborative holiday production.

Schedule:

  • Class 1 Mon., Dec 2, 7-10 pm

    • Bring ideas, concepts, or original scripts to explore. 

  • Class 2 Wed., Dec 4, 7-10 pm

    • Present and explore a rough draft of the play.

  • Class 3 Mon., Dec 9, 7-10 pm

    • Bring in the final script and cast from the class and cold read. 

  • Class 4 Wed., Dec 11, 7-10 pm

    • Rehearsal.

  • Class 5 Sat., Dec 14, 1-7:30 pm

    • Rehearsal, tech, and Performance (7:30 pm).
